Tom got his first guitar at the age of 10, and began playing folk and blues music. By the time he was 14, Tom was playing in local bands and composing songs and instrumental music. He received a degree in classical guitar performance from Cal State Hayward in 1978 and since that time has taught and performed music locally and internationally. Also in 1978, Tom joined the team that planted Hope Center Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill. He served there as a worship director and associate pastor for 36 years. In 2014, Tom left his position at Hope Center to pursue a wide range of teaching, coaching and performing opportunities. He is grateful for the opportunity to help churches in the East Bay by serving as a guest preacher, worship leader or band member. Tom is currently working part time with New Life Christian Fellowship as mentoring pastor. As mentoring pastor he encourages, coaches and supports people in their growth as followers of Jesus. Perhaps it’s his strong affinity with music that puts him so in tune with people’s feelings and hopes. He says it gives him great joy to help people find fulfillment in serving God and others!
