Kings 1 & 2

Every year I am renergized as our life journal reading approaches the books of the Kings. 1&2 Kings are filled with amazing stories like today's, about the woman, whose husband served the Lord in Elisha's school of the prophets. The Kings are jam-packed with amazing stories of everyday people and problems like, worry, finance, generosity, justice, hope and heartache that may assault us any day of the week. Though the stories are ancient when we pause and focus we discover they are impacted with principles awaiting **kinetic release into our souls. I hope you are stirred by God Himself to dive further and more often in to the Word, as I dislodge a handful of principals from this little piece of divine literature.  Pastor Art
2 Ki 4:1-7 (NLT)  One day the widow of one of Elisha's fellow prophets came to Elisha and cried out to him, "My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the LORD. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves." 2 "What can I do to help you?" Elisha asked. "Tell me, what do you have in the house?" "Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil," she replied. 3 And Elisha said, "Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. 4 Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting the jars aside as they are filled." 5 So she did as she was told. Her sons brought many jars to her, and she filled one after another. 6 Soon every container was full to the brim! "Bring me another jar," she said to one of her sons. "There aren't any more!" he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. 7 When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, "Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and there will be enough money left over to support you and your sons." Kinetic truth (KT) awaiting impact with your spirit . . . v1 The woman knows her husband served God, now she is alone with children and so low on bucks, collectors are at the door. She turns to God for help, crying out to Elisha for help.  KT = When you are faithful in serving people, God's people will be there to serve you. v2 Elisha has a "Yes" heart. He has a desire to help, but he does not just give her cash, or rush to fix her problems. Instead he asks what she has in the house. KT  God want to use what God has given us. She answers that she has nothing at all except . . . KT We often look at what we have and think of it as nothing. v3 Elisha sends her to the neighbors. . .  KT Invest in community and Use your network, there are people God has put in your life - in your neighborhood with a purpose. v4 Elisha tells the woman to go inside and shut the door. KT The miraculous and transforming work of God in your life is most often done in private places of your heart and life rather than on a stage. v5 The woman had a "Yes" heart, "she did as she was told." KT Have a heart to say "Yes" to God's instruction. She involved her sons. KT Make your obedience known to your family and include them. v6 The flow of oil stopped when the jars ran out. KT God will only give us what we are prepared to steward. v7 The man of God tells here to sell the oil, pay her debts an support her sons. We never hear the oil fountain opens again to rescue this family from their debts.  KT God expects us to be responsible rather than presumputious, learning to be good stewards of what he supplies. Kinetic Truth - God's truth is always in motion - awaiting to impact my life. ** kinetic \kuh-NET-ik\  adjective 1 : of or relating to the motion of material bodies and the forces and energy associated therewith *2 a : active, lively b : dynamic, energizing Motion Pictures "the Cinema:" Cinema is the shortened form of the French word "cinematographe."  You can here two Greek words in the French, "kinema" (moving/motion) and "grapho" (write or image). God Moves, kineo is the Greek word used by Paul in  Acts 17:28 (NNAS)  "In Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said."  Kineo is translated to move, to arouse or even to stir. God is the one who moves on us, stirs us, excites us. As Paul says every move I make I make in him!
