Passport (Grades 4-5)

This class is a "Wow!" We combine age groups for a great time of learning through our interactive video curriculum. They go on virtual trips as they learn about God's purpose for their lives and just how He wants them to live the life He has given them. The lesson each and every week is reinforced by the object lesson, games, "Memory Madness," "Get it? Got it? Good!" Our kids then go to their small group time. Here they really get to know their leader and have a chance to ask questions and review the lesson over a snack before they get back together for "Total Recall," a game that tests their knowledge of the lesson and maybe even some fun facts they learned that day. This curriculum was designed for kids this age, it's high energy and very interactive.

Meet some of our Teachers

Jeanine

Jeanine and her husband Michael have been members of New Life for 14 years, and she has been involved with Children’s Ministry for 11 of them! Jeanine says she teaches both because she loves children and because she wants to share the love of Christ with kids, as many people did for her when she was growing up. As a child, Jeanine went to churches in towns all across the country (even though her mom claimed to be an atheist) because the family of God graciously invested time in her life. These investments ultimately resulted in Jeanine’s relationship with her Lord and Savior.

Jeanine and Michael live in Martinez and have raised eight beautiful kids (his, hers and theirs). At last count, they were the proud grandparents of 8½ grand-kids.

Jody

Jody is serving in the One Way/Passport (elementary grades) classes. She loves to "tell the story of Jesus and His love" to the kids, and to watch them grow in knowledge and faith each week. Jody believes as Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it," and is honored to be just a small part of the Christian training our New Life kids get.

Jody and her husband Lloyd have lived in Walnut Creek for 30 years, where they raised four daughters and now have 3 granddaughters. Jody works for the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, and travels to Washington, DC a lot. In her spare time, she likes to play the piano, flute, and guitar.

Martha

Martha has served with New Life Kids! for several years and now teaches in our One Way/Passport (elementary grades) classes. She knows personally how important Sunday School is to children because she came to faith at six years old, led by her Sunday School teacher. Besides that, Martha just seems to have a great time on Sunday mornings with the kids – and the kids have a great time with her, too!

Martha has raised two beautiful daughters, who are now in college and has worked for 25 years in the financial services industry. Martha also serves New Life as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Hollie

Hi! I'm Hollie Monroe. My husband's name is Reed and I have two wonderful children, Luke (4) and Mia (2). We live in Concord. We have been attending New Life for about 2 years and absolutely love this church! As a mom, nothing touches my heart more than people loving on my kids. I tell you this because that is the very reason that made me want to be a Sunday School teacher. Watching how the other teachers loved on my kids and invested in them and how they SHOW Jesus to my kids as well as teach them about Him made me want to do the same. I work with One Way/Passport, our elementary age students. Since I am a new teacher what I love most right now is getting to know my students, hearing their stories, and seeing who God created them to be. I hope to SHOW them, as well as teach them, about God's great great love for them and the plan He has for each of their lives!
